Asylum Interviews starting again

After a long break caused by the introduction of the 2015 Protection Act and the summer break it looks like asylum interviews are starting up again.

If you have recently received a call to interview you might like to review these sections of the New Horizon website.

It’s got information on:

  • Asylum Seeking Process
  • Definition of a Refugee
  • Refugee Status and Subsidiary Protection
  • Asylum Application Process
  • Dublin III Convention
  • Restrictions on Asylum Seekers
  • The Asylum Interview
  • Preparing for the Asylum Interview
  • At the Asylum Interview
  • Interview Result

If you have problems understanding these documents ask any New Horizon volunteer to explain it.

Sea Prayer – Remembering Alan Kurdi

It’s now two years since 3-year-old Alan Kurdi was found drowned on a Turkish beach. Since then it is estimated that 8500 people have died on the same journey.

Khaled Hosseini, a UNHCR goodwill ambassador , has written Sea Prayer. This imagined letter is written in the form of a monologue, delivered by a Syrian father to the son lying asleep in his lap, on the eve of their sea crossing to Europe.

Hosseini is the author of The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed.
